When Portland Goth started on Tribe on July 1, 2005, the site's interface seemed simple, the camaraderie was noticeable, the exchange of information and ideas was timely and useful.
I met some lovely people there who shared an interest in Portland's alterna-side: the clubnights, concerts, films and comix... tattoos and cemetery tours... fashion shows and dungeon parties... CthulhuCons and hearse cruise-ins....
Do a google on the demise of Tribe, and you'll find several frequent user complaints. The Wikipedia entry probably sums them up best (though without all the "WTF?!?" sentiments): The decision to censor content. The layout changes. The staff layoffs. And the outright bugginess and sketchy functionality.
So I've decided to experiment with this, a new home for Portland Goth.
I'll probably continue parallel posting on tribe.net for a while -- I'm a loyal sort, and frankly the Portland Goth tribe got a few kudos. (The Dark Side of the Net's admin was kind enough once to remark that the PG tribe was one of the few goth sites that actually stays updated. But ultimately even The Dark Side had to make the move to the blogosphere in 2009.)
Look for PDX happenings, banter and the usual suspects.
